Christmas Wish List (Minimalist-ish)| 2017 Edition

Having spent a good couple of years really trying to minimalise and declutter my home, and detach myself as much as possible from excessively consuming and collecting, I find myself finally at a peaceful balance between two extremes. I neither want to own 108 lipsticks nor do I want to live with just a mattress and a backpack. The key to success when considering incorporating any form of minimalism is to focus on what truly matters about the movement, which funnily enough is focusing on what truly matters.  The balance I have discovered for myself when it comes to minimalism is not in depriving yourself, but rather choosing mindfully and purposefully what you really want, need and use in your life. It’s about appreciating and enjoying the things you have choosing to be content with who you are and not using things and stuff to numb or fill empty voids. Last year I think I took minimalism to the extreme, focusing in on what I truly can live without, and presents and gits was certainly …

Get To Know Me | Childhood Memories, Boyfriends & Food

So I thought I would share my latest video that I have posted on YouTube which is a get to know me video. And as an extra bonus I also wanted to share some extra little things about myself here on my Blog. I love these get to know me type tags, as it allows you to, in a sense, find out some little random details about yourself that you either never had the chance to really think about or would have otherwise gone unnoticed even by you. So here are some more random things about me that you may or may not want to know! My first Pet was Murdered My first pet, will forever be my one and only true love, my parents adopted a blue healer puppy before  I was even thought of, so I essentially grew up with him. His name was Charlie and he had the most beautiful nature, at one point in time I can even recall he had a pet of his own. Some random bunny rabbit just …

The Ordinary Skincare Review for Oily Combination Skin

The Company The Ordinary is one of three product lines made by the company DECIM, with as the name might suggest, The Ordinary being the more affordable lower end skincare line. The skincare line has a massive point of difference from an already flooded market, that being providing products in a ‘humble and true form’ with their slogan being ‘clinical formulations with integrity’. Without exclusion, and one of my favourite aspects of the company, is that all products are free from harsh chemicals and irritants such as parabens, sulphates, mineral oil, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, animals oils, benzalkonium chloride, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury, oxybenzone. The company is cruelty free and does not test on animals nor sell their products to main land china where animal testing is a requirement of sales. My Background and Qualifications I am a Qualified Beauty Therapist since 2009 and have worked for a variety of salons ranging from your everyday beauty treatments and relaxation based facials, to as a Laser Skin Therapist and Technician with skincare being my main focus and …

Go to YouTubers | Style, Beauty and Minimalism

When it comes to relaxation, guilty pleasures and just in general how we like to spend our down time, everyone is different and so are our preferences. Some people love a glass of wine at the end of the day to take the edge off; others like Yoga, there are those who thrive off of a good book and those that are recharged from being social. However there is one way that the majority of us like to overindulge in when it comes to how we send our much earned free time. Media! Social media, video content, music there is so much variety out there, and one of the most popular ways to get your media fix is through streaming companies such as Netflix or my personal favourite, YouTube. Being somewhat of a YouTube addict, to the point of having to monitor my consumption so that I don’t completely waste and entire Weekend fixated on the latest buzzfeed videos of beauty guru uploads, has led me to discover some really amazing YouTubers. Most of these …

The thing that has captured my attention the most when it comes to minimalism is the unexpected benefits and new way of thinking it inspires towards every aspect of your life. Whilst for some the idea of de-cluttering sends a soul shaking fear vibrating through their bones, for me it is an incredible de-stressor, and something that I get a lot of satisfaction out of. The immediate benefits of de-cluttering are; Aesthetically pleasing environment nothing beats coming home to a beautiful space, thoughtfully put together, where you can instantly relax. Time efficiency both in locating and putting away items, less time is spent being frustrated because you’ve lost an item in the mounds of clutter you have collected, which means more time can be spent doing things that are meaningful to you, such as reading or enjoying time with friends and family. Clears your mind your eye is naturally inclined to search out clear and beautiful spaces, so when your benches, floors and bed are clear it has a calming and clearing effect on your …

Nivea Post Shave Balm Sensitive Review

Thanks to Nikki Tutorials, an amazing makeup and beauty guru who can be found in YouTube land, has brought to light the cheapest most amazing primer. Although I got some funny looks from my partner when I received my online order from Priceline, and amongst the makeup and other female orientated goodies was none other than Nivea for men Post Shave Balm in sensitive, and had to steal back the product because he assumed I had bought it for him! No quite the contrary, I bought it for me, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with such an unusual product to find its way into the makeup bags and drawers of makeup junkies everywhere. Does it work? Essentially yes it does, this diamond in the rough find actually makes an incredible primer. When applied correctly, onto a well moisturised skin and worked into the skin until the product becomes tacky the longevity of your foundation is greatly increased. My Experience My skin is what you would call combination skin, oily t-zone and …

Anti-Aging for Your Twenties? Prevention and Consistency

Is this even necessary? I guess it depends on who you ask, and your own personal view point! My back ground is in beauty therapies so I have an appreciation for good skin care and the benefits of what are now some quite advanced facials (most bordering on being a medical procedure). This is one of those cases where you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. We are a society obsessed with staying young, and plastic surgery has become the new norm. We are constantly bombarded with distorted cosmetically enhanced faces greeting us from every celebrity obsessed magazine and internet resource. Let me state for the record I am not against plastic surgery or any treatment used for anti-aging purposes. What I am against is the unrealistic demands women seem to create for themselves and the unnatural faces that older women covet. Beauty is beauty however it comes! I’m not about to parade around in ugg boots at the grocery store or sport an unkempt appearance as I do have pride in …

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel | Hot or Not Review

This is a slightly different type of review, mainly because when I stumbled across this product in Target (originally only looking for a new top coat) was won over by the colour selection. I did a very quick Google search for reviews and found mainly bad reviews so of course in logical sense bought it anyways. Usually if reviews are bad online I’ll generally give it a miss and there are quite a lot of bad reviews surrounding this one, but the promise on the bottle sounded really interesting, a long lasting polish with a gel appearance and performance, with easy removal that wasn’t harsh on the nails. Sold! What’s Hot? This nail polish really does last chip free for three times longer than what I get from regular nail polish, which is quite significant (whilst I didn’t quite reach the two week mark I had not a single chip for 6 days which I was really happy about, then the tips began showing signs of wear, but only fading at the edges which again …

Autumn Makeup | 2016

Now the weather is finally changing, and we are seeing more and more cooler days, it’s got me really excited for the season and the deeper colours and makeup looks autumn inspires. As a lover of cold weather and everything associated with it, the beginning of autumn makes me feel really refreshed. Having cold starts to the morning makes me feel more awake and vibrant.  I love having a reason to drink more tea, snuggle into some warmer clothes and of course curl up with a blanket (binge watching sex and the city of course)! With this refreshed feeling, comes the excitement of changing up my makeup look! Whilst I love the bronzed beauty and bright colours of summer, for me there’s something really striking about a bold deep burgundy lip and sultry smokey eyes… I’ve put together some of my favourites looks collected from various social media sites, some are looks that I wear often and some are looks that I am keen to try out this year, hope you get as inspired as …
