Christmas Decor Inspiration

Today I wanted to share with you some Christmas Tree and Christmas Decor Inspiration. I’ve been struggling a little since having my children and having the whole dynamic of Christmas change, to enjoy holiday season. Now whilst I enjoy celebrating Christmas with my kids and all that entails; With Santa, little Christmas traditions, Presents in the stocking, I did notice that in the process of trying to recreate the magic of Christmas I enjoyed as a child with my own children, I sort of lost my interest and love of Christmas. Too Much emphasis was placed on the children, even to the point where I stopped getting presents for myself and my partner for Christmas, and what essentially happened was I turned in to a mean green Mummy Grinch, so my solution this year to reclaim my love and enjoyment for Christmas was to Decorate my tree, a very spindly neglected and un-thought of Christmas presence that had become quite drab and very un-festive. Now its not about having the most beautiful tree, or the …

Day in the Life of a Mum of Three Young Children

So what is it really like to be a mother to three young children? If I could sum it up in three words they would be; Love, exhaustion and chaos. Today I have taken what I would consider a brave step and uploaded a video on YouTube of a day in my life or DITL if you’re up with all the acronyms that exist on the internet these days. Whilst I am proud of my efforts and novice editing, the reality is that it is impossible to get the full story on film. I chose to purposely edit out some of the more stressful and unglamorous sections from my plethora of video footage, and I would like to firstly explain why and also go into the reason I choose to do so. So behind the scenes this is what really happened; my son crapped in my daughters room, or rather thought it would be a good idea to go to the toilet by himself and not tell me, which resulted in an unwiped bottom which …

Go to YouTubers | Style, Beauty and Minimalism

When it comes to relaxation, guilty pleasures and just in general how we like to spend our down time, everyone is different and so are our preferences. Some people love a glass of wine at the end of the day to take the edge off; others like Yoga, there are those who thrive off of a good book and those that are recharged from being social. However there is one way that the majority of us like to overindulge in when it comes to how we send our much earned free time. Media! Social media, video content, music there is so much variety out there, and one of the most popular ways to get your media fix is through streaming companies such as Netflix or my personal favourite, YouTube. Being somewhat of a YouTube addict, to the point of having to monitor my consumption so that I don’t completely waste and entire Weekend fixated on the latest buzzfeed videos of beauty guru uploads, has led me to discover some really amazing YouTubers. Most of these …

The thing that has captured my attention the most when it comes to minimalism is the unexpected benefits and new way of thinking it inspires towards every aspect of your life. Whilst for some the idea of de-cluttering sends a soul shaking fear vibrating through their bones, for me it is an incredible de-stressor, and something that I get a lot of satisfaction out of. The immediate benefits of de-cluttering are; Aesthetically pleasing environment nothing beats coming home to a beautiful space, thoughtfully put together, where you can instantly relax. Time efficiency both in locating and putting away items, less time is spent being frustrated because you’ve lost an item in the mounds of clutter you have collected, which means more time can be spent doing things that are meaningful to you, such as reading or enjoying time with friends and family. Clears your mind your eye is naturally inclined to search out clear and beautiful spaces, so when your benches, floors and bed are clear it has a calming and clearing effect on your …

Lessons from Madame Chic: 20 Stylish Lessons I Learned whilst living in Paris Book Review

It may or may not be a prerequisite to reading this wonderfully chic and eloquently inspiring read to have a slight obsession with Parisians, style and manners, things I find myself ever drawn to. An enchanting reencounter of the Authors’ time spent pursuing the streets of Paris and ultimately the lessons she both observed and was tutored by her appropriately named host Madame Chic. This is not your typical Parisian style guide, however is more on how to live life with passion, in the moment, to appreciate the little indulgences we afford ourselves and ultimately that a life of joy is the most chic and worthwhile lesson to learn. Of course there are tips on, how French women typically dress, eat and live life in general, and her most popular chapter which led her to deliver her Ted Talk on ‘how to liberate yourself with the 10 – item Wardrobe” is right on trend with the capsule wardrobe phenomenon that has fashionistas everywhere de-cluttering and restyling their wardrobes. I love this book for obvious reasons, …

My Morning Fat Burning Essentials

So I Have finally got into the swing of things as far as post baby weight loss and motivation are concerned. This being my third baby I found it a lot harder to lose the baby weight this time, probably from a combination of pure exhaustion and the toll taken on my body from having 3 (count ‘em) three C-sections in a short space of time. My biggest motivation currently is watching my body change and especially seeing the muscles and strength that I am gaining. It’s much more rewarding and effective if you work on fat loss and toning as opposed to just reducing the number on the scale (at whatever costs, usually includes muscle and water wright and unhealthy approaches). The three things that I try to include into every breakfast for their fat burning and metabolism boosting qualities are; Green Tea Loaded with antioxidants and various substances beneficial for your health and vitality. Green tea has been shown through several studies to help increase your body’s ability to burn fat and is …

January Loves

Here is a new little segment I am planning on incorporating into my blog on a monthly basis, where at the end of every month I share 5 things from the month that I have been loving, this can include anything from inspirational quotes, beauty products, food, media, books or articles, persons of interest and the likes. Now because there are more topics than what I plan to share as my five loves for the month, I plan to interchange which categories to share allowing me to be more organic with what I am actually loving that month and to offer a variety of inspiration and ideas. This month has been quite an inspirational one for me, I’ve been binge watching ted talks and really getting into the spirit of the New Year. So here you have my first and January loves… Food Smoothie bowls, really what can I say but, delicious, nutritious and satiating. My go to recipe, which I rarely tamper with includes these ingredients; 2 bananas, 1 cup frozen mixed berries, 1 tablespoon PB2 …

30 Day Minimalism Challenge

Keeping the renewed sense of motivation and general pro-activeness that the new year brings I thought I would embark on one of the many 30 day challenges I have in mind for accomplishing this year. This, if you read my previous post, is in addition to the new habits I am incorporating and expanding upon each month. The difference between a habit and a challenge to me is the longevity; a habit is something I plan to make a part of my daily routine, actions and or a personal improvement that I intend on making a permanent change in my life. Whereas a challenge is a more intense activity designed to test your strength and have an immediate impact on your life, it helps you achieve goals in a short amount of time. I am not a hoarder, I am the complete opposite, aside from birthday cards from my beloved and children (and photos of course), I have no sentimental attachment to any of my possessions. I am constantly organising rearranging and decluttering, but unfortunately …

Baking and Accessories Haul

I recently got my hands on an electric mix master as a gift for my birthday that was not too long ago. I had wanted one of these bad boys for a while but always put off buying one, reasoning with myself that I don’t bake enough, or that I won’t use it and it will just sit there and collect dust. Turns out I was wrong, very wrong! I absolutely love using my mix master and find that I am baking more now than ever. I really love the idea of making my food from scratch, the appeal stems from not only an idealistic and nostalgic view of a simpler life but also hugely because of my son’s allergies and my interest in healthy living. Making food from scratch allows me to not only control, but also know exactly what goes into the food and henceforth into the little (and slightly larger) tummies of my family. Since acquiring my mix master I have found it easier and quicker than ever to make and bake …
